Crash Course: Chapter 9 - A Brief History of US Money by Chris Martenson

Chapter 9 (A Brief History of US Money): Beginning with the panic of 1913, this chapter touches on important events in the history of US money, such as the creation of the Federal reserve, FDRs confiscation of private gold, the Bretton Woods agreement, and Nixons slamming of the gold window. We learn that the current international monetary system of unbacked currencies is only 37 years old, and is operating outside of the standards established by the Bretton Woods agreement. The system were operating within has not been planned or designed: it emerged out of a crisis. Dr. Martenson also provides graphs of total US Federal Debt, and Total US money stock, both of which are growing with no end in sight. www.chrismartenson.com

Choosing the Right Men's Luxury Watches

To many men, their watch is an outward facing example that helps define who they are, a statement to the world about their personal style and status.  To that end, choosing the right men's luxury watch can be a very tricky proposition.   There are thousands of blends of brands, models, material types, face styles, looks and price ranges.  Chances are you will have your next men's watch for a long time, so before you get online and make your next purchase, think long and hard about what is right for you.

Before you even get online and starting sorting through men's luxury watches, there are a few questions you need to ask yourself.   Do you go with a big brand that everyone will recognize such as a Movado or something a little more obscure such as a Hublot.  Do you go with an entry level watch from DKNY, a mid-tier watch from Movado or something a little more pricey from IWC?  Do you go with a sporty stainless watch from Tag Heuer or do you go with a contemporary leather band watch from the likes of Bulgari?  Once you have taken some time to define your needs, it is time to spend some extensive time online making your rounds of top sites.

Paramount to the final decision is pricing, why spend more than you have to?  Most of the best online vendors will offer pricing at a fraction of what you would spend for identical merchandise at their brick and mortar counterparts.  Also, as you will likely be holding onto your watch for a long time, think about spending a little bit more than you had initially budgeted for it.  Unlike some other luxury items, with watches you usually get what you pay for.

As we have outlined, choosing the perfect men's luxury watch can be a tricky and often times expensive proposition if you don't take the necessary steps.   As a consumer, you owe it to yourself to find the right look and feel at what you feel is a reasonable price.  In addition to price, read the site to learn what else you get with your purchase.  Many top vendors will offer a complementary warranty extension, free shipping, money-back guarantees, free gifts or other perks to help entice you.  Also as you do your shopping stick to companies that operate in the US and most importantly, look for companies that have the Better Business Bureau Online (BBB Online) seal.

Watch Styles & Designs for 2011

With 2011 coming around extremely fast the watch industry is alive with buzz and hype about what the next year's designs and features are going to be. With the recession easing off and consumers spending more on products such as watches, it means 2011 is going to be a very exciting year in terms of the watch industry growth in all aspects such as new designs, watch repairs and watch accessories. Sales have dropped off over the last two years due to the economic down fall but people are extremely optimistic with the coming years for the watch industry to return to its powerful position.

So what are the new designs and styles going to be? Needless to say some are just going to be new more modern design however there are also going to be some pretty unique ideas and features. Also with the green issue becoming more and more prominent in the United Kingdom there is also great anticipation for more environmentally friendly watches that operate of solar power. The days of the watch being something that simply keeps and tells the time have now completely passed due to the new innovations and features that many of the wrist watches people own now have.

In terms of new designs there seems to be a lot of hype around very bright and colourful watches as the new trend for 2011 meaning lots of wrist watches could soon be very bright with unique colours and off the wall designs. Also leather straps seem to be making a popularity return with many of the major watch companies bringing out more models with a leather strap designs incorporated in to them or with what are called inter changeable straps so that one can put either a steel strap on the watch for more of a formal occasion or replace it with a leather strap for a relaxed look and a more comfortable feel.

Also there are some quite intensely unique designs coming out of the Japanese based with watches that are completely LED light based and some with no clock faces that just light up with lights to convey the time to the person wearing the watch. Now these types of designs are not really going to break into the mainstream however they do represent the innovation that is going into the watch industry with all the companies trying to come up with the next popular design or style that will revolutionise the entire industry in a similar way to how Swatch did.

In summary it seems that the watch industry is in for some exciting times with the styles and designs that 2011 will bring. The market should be in for some new modern designs but also some completely new innovations and technological features that are sure to blow people away. Also with consumers having more money to spend now that the economy is improving, the entire market as a whole should be braced for a direct increase in sales and profitability.

Lasting Luxury - Porsche Design Heritage P6530 Watch

In some people's eyes, luxury may mean being kind of fragile and need to be protected with extra care. But for Porsche Design, luxury may be first of all being kind of eternal existence that can withstand the test of time. Such character is successfully inherited by the new Porsche Design Heritage P6530 Watch.

With its case and bracelet entirely constructed in shot-blasted titanium, the Heritage P6530 is highly resistant to corrosion of time. Since titanium is very light and easy on the skin, the watch will give you comfortable wearing experience.

It is worth mentioning that 30 years ago, Porsche created the world's first first chronograph in titanium. Their new Heritage P6530 inherits the great tradition by faithfully keeping most of the original styles.

Driven by a Swiss Valjoux 7750 caliber with a 48 hour power reserve, the new Heritage P'6530 Titanium Chronograph features common functions of sports watches, namely a 30-minute counter at 12 o'clock, small seconds sub-dial at 9 o'clock, and a 12-hour totaliser at 6 o'clock and a tachymeter scale outside the baton hour-markers. The watch also indicates day and date at 3 o'clock and is water resistant to 60 meters.

Although the watch cannot to be called as very expensive, estimated price ranges from $3,000-5,000, it comes in an edition of only 911 pieces. So it may not be easy for you to buy the watch. This number sounded very strange. I thought it was connected with the terrorist attack. But later I found it may probably in connection with Porsche's famous sports car, Porsche 911.

Each Heritage P6530 Titanium Chronograph will be packaged in a black wood box with a certification indicating the production number. Combining clear and pure lines with durable and hard-wearing material, the watch really carries great heritage of Porsche Design watches. If you are a big fan of Porsche sports car or Porsche Design items, you may be excited at the extensive collection of replica Porsche Design watches.

Womens Watches at $1,000 and Up

You may be in the market for a mid priced timepiece. These womens watches are priced at $1,000 and up and there are many to choose from. How do you pick the right one? Is there a formula for choosing the perfect timepiece at this price? Well, there is no clear cut answer, but there are some guidelines that will help point you in the right direction. Here are some of the most important factors, when it comes to shopping for a mid-priced ladies timepiece:

1. Mechanical movements; most women don't think much about mechanical watches, but if you are going to be spending over $1,000 on a timepiece, you should consider them. These are not your run of the mill Quartz movements. They require no batteries and the self winding models are wound by the movement of your wrist, as you wear it. Mechanicals offer a classy and romantic allure and in addition to their aesthetic appeal...they will last and last.

2. Many designers want you to be able to appreciate the movement, so they will equip the timepiece with a see through case backing or a window aperture in the dial. Through these portholes you can witness the beating heart of the piece. It adds a very artistic touch to the mechanics.

3. Buy from a certified and reputable watchmaker. A watch that is created by a dedicated maker will hold its value longer.

Always make sure product is finished impeccably. Fine attention to detail makes the difference between these watches and ones of a lesser caliber.

Wholesale Watches Online

Wholesale watches can come in different forms; they could be the latest models that you get from the manufacturer, or last year's models that you buy from a department store or manufacturer from their unsold stock. Wherever you get them and however you get them, they can come in bulk and you might not always have a choice as to what you get. Of course with new watches you can send back the ones that don't work, whereas that option may or may not be available when you buy the left over stock from a department store. Generally, you will pay a lower price for these watches than when buying from a department store.

Unless the stock contains the same type of wholesale watches that you buy, you would have to sort them out once you get them. Sort them by brand first and then by models. Some will fetch you a good price and some a little lower, so pricing them correctly is very important. A well priced inventory sells fast and thus frees up the working capital for more stock. It makes good business sense to have your inventory move. A good thing to do is check each one to make sure they are working right. It is important that only the good ones go into the stock you sell. It is also a good idea to save a few for yourself; you can form a museum with what you have. But of course that is for some people only.

Wholesale Watches could be of different varieties too, they could be wrist watches or pocket watches. There is of course a differing clientele who will like them. If they are wristwatches they could have different bands for the same kind of watches. People are as varied as the items they like and most probably some will like bracelets and some leather bands. They even make some with plastic or other man made materials. Generally those that have the bands made out of manmade materials are utilitarian ones that are made for a specific sport or work in mind. If one dives for instance you don't want to have a leather band or even a bracelet. Mostly dress ones will have the bracelets or leather bands. If you buy the ones from a department store inventory some could be shop soiled too. They could have scratches or missing plastic covers etc. Make sure you account for it when you buy wholesale watches.

You are out to do business not charity when you buy them and you have to make sure your profit margin is intact. You would not want to lose money or come out even in the deal. That is the reason you have to make sure at the time of buying that you will come out ahead. When you are buying new stock from a manufacturer you don't have the luxury of haggling over the price, whereas with a department store the idea is completely different. Wholesale watches can give you a good profit if you buy them the right way.

The Corum Admiral's Cup Watch and Its Yachting Heritage

The Corum luxury watch brand have released many distinctive and eye catching timepieces. Regarded by many in the watch industry to be innovators of design, Corum watches have often produced unconventional, extravagant models but in the portfolio of this luxury brand you will also discover intricate and captivating artistic pieces, highly collectable and undeniably charming. Founded in 1955 in La Chaux-de-Fonds Switzerland, the first Corum watch, the Charge D'Affaires was presented in 1956.

One collection in the brand's portfolio has become synonymous with the brand, the now iconic Corum Admiral's Cup. First released in 1960 its beautifully crafted square "Caree" case form bears no resemblance to the shape of the modern day Admiral's Cup watch. The watch was named Admiral's Cup as a reference to its water resistance - an innovative feature in a square watch case design.

In the early 1980's the Corum Admiral's Cup watch was to shed its gold Caree skin as part of a radical new design when it became commercial sponsors of yacht racing. As a celebration of the Admiral's Cup Regatta Offshore Yacht Race (a biannual international event considered by many to be the pinnacle of offshore yacht racing) the Corum brand re-launched the collection. The re-birth of the piece featured a rounded 12 sided case with brightly coloured nautical pennants decorating the bezel.

The watch became a Corum classic - an instantly recognised piece of jewellery which needs no introduction. The Admiral's Cup has been updated over the years producing some highly functional, intelligently designed models. One of these, the astonishing Admiral's Cup Marrees (tides) featured high and low tides function along with current strengths and lunar cycle - complications which stay true to its ocean-going offshore racing heritage. It also contained the first in-house Caliber CO277 movement. The Admiral's Cup Tides 44 Regatta is a highly collectable piece in the collection. Limited to 250 pieces and featuring hours, minutes, sweep seconds, date, moon phase, tides and strengths of tides, the watch is not only functional but a timelessly classical piece of jewellery. The 44mm case is crafted in rose gold which contrasts beautifully with those famous coloured nautical pennants. An exhibition caseback reveals its movement the remarkable CO277 and it is a certified chronometer (C.O.S.C.) meaning that it is an extremely accurate watch, one with a deviation of no more than 5 seconds a day. The watch band, a tactile combination of rose gold and rubber completes this impressive timepiece.

The Admiral's Cup Regatta Yacht Race has been of recent years a much missed event and at the time of writing, the Royal Ocean Racing Club are hoping to revive the event for 2011. Its name-sake jewellery equivalent - the Admiral's Cup watch has remained a core part of the Corum brand and hopefully there will be many more incarnations of this special piece to come in the future.

Great prices on luxury watches can be found at Chronolux.com and if you enjoyed this brief overview of the brand, then I would recommend that you visit the The WatchPress for more historical features and Corum watch reviews.

Croton Watches - Unique Options For Men and Women

It is rare to find a fashion accessory and a truly practical device existing in the same piece, but watches do just that. Gone are the days of boring watches that served only the purpose of keeping time. While a watch still provides the useful function of telling time, it can also be a fun and unique way to express yourself. When picking a watch there are several elements that you can mix and match to create a personalized piece.

Women's Watches

Women's watches come in several varieties, ranging from classy and formal to fun, funky and dressed down. When selecting your watch, there are several aspects beyond function to consider; watchband, color, and shape being three of the most important.

There is a large range of variability in the available watchbands for women, depending on the type of watch you prefer. A formal watch's watchband may be a sleek silver band, or it may be completely concealed within a bracelet. Jewelry watches may have crystals on the band, or may have a fun pattern to add a little bit of edge to the fancy and formal watches. More dressed-down and informal watches have the option of fun color bands that may be interchangeable.

Another aspect of your watch that should be considered is the color, both of the band and the face of the watch itself. There are fun colors available, from bright pink, blue, purple or green to more traditional bands of silver, gold, and black. You may chose to have a rather subtle or normal color for either the band or face and a more exotic color for the other. For example you could have a traditional brushed metal watch face on a more fashion-forward band with pearl or crystal inlays.

Finally, a fun way to choose a unique watch is to find a slightly different shape or style. Instead of a normal band maybe you could pick one that pulls in toward the face and gives an almost bow-shape to the watch, or there are watchbands that are wider than traditional ones. The face itself can be different sizes, perhaps a smaller circle contained within a larger square and on a fun and quirky band. Even a subtle change in the style or shape of the watchband or watch face can make a boring traditional watch fun, interesting and unique.

Men's Watches

While fashion and accessories are often considered a women's forte, men can have fun with them as well. Men are no longer stuck with boring traditional watches that all look the same. Today's men have almost as many options available to them as women when it comes to watches.

In terms of selecting a timepiece that is both unique and personal, many of the rules are the same for men as they are for women. Look at the band, the face and the color, and mix and match to find just the right watch for you. Unlike women, however, men's watches tend to come in only two styles: sporty and dressy.

Like women's watches, it may be possible to wear a dressier watch on a less dressy occasion by simply pairing it with a more casual outfit. Also like women's watches it may be harder to make a sporty watch look fancy if it does not already have that fancy flare to it. Trying to dress up a watch with a multi-colored face or a skull pattern may not go over so well, so make sure you consider this when purchasing your watch.

Unlike with women's watches there are far fewer options in terms of the actual shape of the watch face; most men's watches stick to the classic circular face with a regular band. However men's watches also tend to have more variety in their watch faces in that there are a variety of dials that may be included on a man's watch. Some watches will have only your basic hour, minute and second hand, whereas some will also have 24-hour clocks and/or date dials included on the face of the watch. Be sure you understand what all the dials are for before purchasing a watch you cannot read!

Whether shopping for men's or women's watches, fancy or informal, there are several elements to consider. Just because you need a watch to tell the time does not mean you cannot have fun picking out your watch, nor does it mean you cannot use your watch to express a little bit of who you are. If you do not want to have a traditional watch, then buy one with a quirky band or an interesting watch face. Just because you want to know what time it is does not mean you have to give up your sense of style!

The Art of Kabuki and Where to Watch a Kabuki Play

The literal meaning of Kabuki is singing and dancing technique. Kabuki is traditional Japanese musical drama which was invented almost four centuries ago. It represents the rich and diverse culture of Japan. The highlight of Kabuki plays are elaborate make up and costumes and gestures.

Kabuki was invented for the entertainment of the common masses. It was unlike the Noh, which was invented for the pleasure of the elite class. While Noh was graceful, Kabuki was loud, Noh was for educated people whereas anybody could enjoy Kabuki which relied heavily on grand costumes and bright masks and elaborate gestures and poses from the actors. The art of Kabuki was invented by a woman who danced in a tea shop dressed as a man. Later encouraged by the response, groups of women started performing and soon this form of entertainment became very popular. Women enacted both male and female parts; while the popularity of Kabuki grew, the performances of some groups became lewd and suggestive and so women were then banned from Kabuki.

Now men totally dominated the performances. Men played women's part extremely well, they dressed like women, wore exaggerated make up and skillfully controlled their voices. Even today men play the part of women to perfection though some troupes have inducted women as well.

The main themes of Kabuki play are historical, domestic and dance numbers. The Kabuki actors have full control over vocals and often you can make out the meaning of the play even when if you do not understand the language. As a matter of fact the language of Kabuki plays is quite old and is incomprehensible to the Japanese themselves. Usually a small orchestra featuring traditional Japanese musical instruments accompanies the performances.

There were some features which made Kabuki so very special and unique. First was the revolving stage. With a revolving stage, the background scenery could be changed without dropping the curtains. There were trapdoors on the stage and the actors suddenly appeared and disappeared. There were harnesses which helped the actors to "fly"; these are known as special effects in today's language and maybe they were inspired by Kabuki. The actors also suddenly changed their costumes.

In Japan, Kabuki-za in Tokyo is the most famous Kabuki theatre. The theatre was built in 1889 and has been rebuilt a couple of times. The theatre has been closed for major repairs and will reopen in 2013. The performances are being held at the Shinbashi Enbujo. Minami-za in Kyoto and the National Theatre in Chiyoda Japan are other venues were Kabuki performances are held.

Mens Leather Watch Varieties for Your Fashion Statements

Casual, sporty or dress. So many fashion statements for men to present. There are a number of men's leather watches available for each statement he may wish to make. A fine example is my nephew Andrew. Being an educator and a football coach he has special needs for his watches. For sporting events and training sessions he would need a watch with rugged, tough and tumble characteristics. During the regular school day a casual watch fits the bill and when he attends any awards banquets or any upscale parties he may choose an upscale watch such as the ESQ Chronicle by Movado. With it's simple stately lines it tells everyone he has class. Any man may want to show the world his sporty side and wear a watch such as the Wenger Standard Issue XL Watch.

This watch was crafted by the famous maker of the Genuine Swiss Army Knife! How much sportier can one get? Some of the features it has are: Swiss quartz movement, water-resistant to 330 ft. (100 m), date display, military time, luminous hands and markers, mineral crystal, stainless steel case with screw-on back ensures water-resistance, white dial, and brown genuine calfskin leather strap. Another sporty choice could be the Timex T77862 mens watch. It has all the characteristics needed in a sporty watch. Stainless Steel Case, Mens Outdoor Expedition- Digital Compass, Highly accurate digital compass, Bearings based on 16 cardinal points measured in degrees, Allows user to set declination angle based on geography, 100-hour chronograph, Countdown timer, Alarm, All day Indiglo display, Night-Mode feature, and Brown Leather Strap. A classic casual watch would be an Armitron 201925GYBN with its Stainless Steel Case, Silvertone Buckle Closure, brown leather strap, Day and Date, a gold circle envelopes the dial's face and gold accents on the numbers. Or possibly a casual watch by Jules Jurgensen.

The 7857YR is a great example of a watch for casual wearing. The face is easy to read but not too simplistic. The gold Roman Numerals on the white background of the face helps make it easy to read. The leather strap accents it nicely. For a dress watch the recommendation would have to be the ESQ Chronicle by Movado. The Men's Chronicle watch, yellow gold ion-plated stainless steel case, silver-toned dial with stick markers and small seconds subdial, brown teju lizard-embossed leather strap, Swiss quartz movement is the picture of class. It's smooth lines and crisp features stand out and make it one of the best looking timepieces to come along. Mankind has been trying for centuries to keep accurate time. These will help you to do so. Watches come in all price ranges and it is up to you to determine what range is best for you.

For nearly a century, Ebel has been crafting some of the very finest Swiss watches. The company is unique in that it was cofounded by a husband and wife. They dreamed of making luxury watches grounded in both masculinity and femininity accordingly. Ebel's Beluga Collection follows that feminine tradition that began long ago in 1911. The Beluga Collection sacrifices nothing to uphold the traditions that this fine watchmaker stands for.

The Beluga Collection is designed just for women. More specifically, it is for women who have a tendency to perceive their watches as not only timekeeping pieces, but also as jewelry. A watch can serve as more than a timekeeper, it can become a part of an overall fashion statement or personal image. Watches from the Beluga Collection glitter and shine. Feminine cofounder Alice Levy was a gem-lover and it is no strange coincidence that Beluga watches feature plenty of them. They deliver beautifully set gems against stylish faces, and a diverse spectrum of bracelets that are designed to be comfortable and eye-catching at the same time.

Beluga watches are beautiful and versatile. Imagine a unique watch face that is surrounded by a delicately crafted heart shape and inlaid with fine mother of pearl. Intricate diamond accents round out the overall look of the Ebel Beluga Heart watch. This is just one of many unique and stylish models in the collection. It would be a perfect accompaniment for a special occasion or a professional activity. An innovative concept introduced by Ebel is the scaling down of the size of several watches in the Beluga Collection. The Beluga Mini watches are smaller in size, yet feature the same intricate detailing and fine craftsmanship as the full-sized versions. In fact, some Beluga Minis leave room for as many as 46 diamonds to be set around the watch case. The tiny watches are delicate yet tantalizing at the same time and are just as capable in the area of performance.

The Beluga Collection watches feature a wide selection of vibrant colors in their mother of pearl faces. Subtle colors like traditional white, smooth rose and baby blue are complimented by bolder statements made by green and royal blue mother of pearl. There are also models that make even bolder statements with stainless steel faces of bright fuchsia and several different blues. Some of the faces feature Roman numeral numbering which is charming and nostalgic, or boldly stated diamond accents at 12, 3, 6 and 9 o'clock.

Each and every watch from the Ebel Beluga Collection is the result of Swiss craftsmanship. The Ebel name and those who stand behind it are known as 'architects of time' and the innovative designs found in the Beluga Collection are no exception. An architect carefully designs and plans each and every facet of their creation. The artistry, innovation and attention to detail that goes into each and every timepiece in the Beluga Collection is a part of the longstanding Ebel tradition - they are true architects of time.

Ebel Beluga watches are great for any occasion. TheWatchery specialized in selling ebel watches at discount prices. http://www.thewatchery.com/ebel for more authentic watches at discounted prices.

Buying a Man's Diamond Watch

Buying a man's diamond watch is easier than you might think. Diamonds aren't just for women, as many men have embraced the allure and luxury associated with a diamond watch as their own. Here we'll look into some of the things you might want to consider when going about choosing a man's diamond watch.

When shopping for man's watch it's important to keep in mind that you're really looking for a good watch with diamonds adorning it. Buying your loved one a diamond- encrusted timepiece that looks great but doesn't do what's advertised is kinda missing the point. Shop for a great watch first, then consider the diamonds. After all, some of the things you might normally consider when purchasing a diamond don't really apply here: considerations such as size, color, clarity aren't as important as the diamonds are usually quite smaller and worked into the face of the timepiece. Choose a diamond watch that is of the highest quality as far as watches go; that is that it features quartz movement, scratch resistance, and is water-resistant to at least 30 meters. It should also carry at least a two- year warranty.

As far as styles for a man's watch, there are a myriad of choices available to you. Large and small, classic or contemporary, you'll find the perfect diamond watch for the man you're shopping for. Some things to consider when going shopping are concerns like what is his personal style? Does he prefer the classic in most of his jewelry and clothing, or is he a little more cutting edge? Does he have large wrists or long arms? A large watch on a relatively small wrist would look out of place. What types of metal does he prefer? Gold, Silver, Platinum? Other? Some things to consider...

Finally, price consideration matters when choosing a man's timepiece. And this can run the gamut from very inexpensive, say $100 or so at the extreme low end, to many thousands of dollars for an elegant, exquisitely fashioned timepiece that can be passed down from generation to generation. It's really all about the occasion and the man. Would he appreciate the investment in a fine diamond watch, or would it be lost on him? Either way, be assured that whatever your needs are in choosing, by considering the things we've just gone over will give you a great roadmap in navigating the many choices you'll come across in choosing a man's diamond watch.

Counterfeit Watches - A Quick Guide to Spotting Them

As with anything, when you buy a watch you want to make sure you get what you are paying for. With the increasing ingenuity of counterfeit manufacturers, it is all too easy to be taken in by a counterfeit. To help protect you against these fake watches, which can and are seized by police, it's important to know what you're looking for. Here are some handy tips to prevent yourself from being caught out.

First of all, although Rolexes are the most commonly counterfeited watch brand, they aren't the only one. It might sound obvious when it's pointed out, but it's all too easy to believe that a watch is genuine because it isn't a 'well-known' brand. Counterfeiters know what they are doing and there are counterfeits of all the major luxury watch brands being sold all the time. Nor are they only limited to the most expensive. If a £100 Casio counterfeit can be made at half or a third of the price by sacrificing quality, counterfeiters will certainly do it.

Certificates of authenticity do not guarantee that this is the case. It is all too easy now to print out a professional looking certificate and make up a serial number. Boxes, instruction manuals and even bags can all be replicated, sometimes looking very similar to the real thing. If you are in any doubt, ask to see the watch and box in person, and to get the details verified by the watch company itself. If it is a genuine watch, this shouldn't be a problem for the seller.

Check the fine details. Do your research before buying the watch, and know what security features the model was fitted with. Many counterfeit Rolexes, for example, replicate the laser etched crown at 6 o'clock. But this feature wasn't added until 2002, so if the model you are buying dates before this, it won't (and shouldn't) have it. The real laser crown should be hard to see even with a magnifying glass. Counterfeits usually stand out too much.

Other giveaways are the dials and faces. Make sure that the dial has the correct numerals, if any, on it, and that date windows are in the correct place. If is has a Cyclops window, the date should fill this, and be centralised. Check that the hands are the correct style, and that the caseback is correct. If it is a sapphire back, be certain that this is a genuine feature. Rolexes are often counterfeited with a clear back, but the company has never put a watch like this into production. Check too that the face is made of the correct material. Most luxury watches have a sapphire crystal face, as this scratches less easily.

The materials used in a watch should speak for themselves. If it is stainless steel or titanium, the watch should have weight to it. Many counterfeits are too light, instead being constructed from aluminium. Ask to check the movement. If the watch feels light it may have a quartz mechanism instead of a mechanical. But bear in mind that some genuine watches are quartz too.

And finally, if you are in any doubt, DON'T BUY IT. If the offer sounds 'too good to be true', it almost certainly will be, and you'll be left to regret it later.

Guide to Replacing Watch Batteries

Did your favorite watch stop ticking? With all that we have going on in the world today, losing our sense of time is one hassle we can do without. Luckily for you, this quick and easy guide will help you replace your watch battery, so you can go on with your life. Just follow these simple steps and you'll be fine. NOTE: This guide is for both men's and women's watches.

Step 1: Place the watch, face down, on a soft surface such as a towel. Inspect the rear of the casing, and find a tab-like indentation near the rear-edge of the cover. Use a tool with a wedge-head, something dull, like a butter knife or screwdriver. Shimmy the wedge into the back of the indentation. You're trying to pry it open. NOTE: If there is no tab-like indentation, then hold the watch with a vise and stick the tool into a point where the rear cover meets the watch casing, then wedge it in, tapping it with a rubber mallet.

Step 2: Once you can see the battery, try to see if it is being held in place by a bracket. If this is so, unscrew the bracket using a miniature screwdriver from an eyeglass repair kit.

Step 3: Once you can see there is nothing holding the battery back from its release, simply flip the watch around and tap it lightly so the battery will fall out. Don't pry it out. You can damage the internals of the watch by tinkering around.

Step 4: Add the new battery to the old battery's position. Make sure to place it carefully into the watch and to replace anything that was originally holding it there. Realign the back cover and slide the cover opposite the tab-like indentation back into the casing, then press the whole back shell until it snaps into position. Now give yourself a pat on the back. You're done!

This is an easy process when it comes down to it, but you must realize that certain watches cannot be operated on at home and must be taken to a jeweler for battery replacement. Waterproof watches are vacuum-sealed and any tampering with them may destroy the waterproofing. Also, high-dollar watches should always be brought to a jeweler, because you'd hate to ruin an expensive watch. I hope this guide has helped you out.

Discount Luxury Watches - A Practical Buyers Guide

A watch really is not something that you would purchase often on a regular basis. Therefore, when you are considering buying things such as discount luxury watches, there are certain things that you should take into consideration before you do. In this article, we will offer practical buyer's guide tips to discount luxury watches which you may find useful.

Tip 1: When you happen to be looking around for luxury watches sold at a discounted prices, you may want to find out why they are being offered at those amounts. Generally, you will find that watches are being sold off at a lower price because the seller has initially purchased too many of them, or perhaps they might happen to be last year's model. It is not uncommon for watch makers to come out with new versions of their watches almost every year, and in some cases it could even be every season.

Tip 2: To ensure that you are purchasing an authentic item without buying directly from the manufacturer of the watch, do ask the seller to provide proof of authenticity. They should be able to produce the actual certificate of authenticity that the watch maker provided to them. If they are unable or unwilling to do so, then in all likelihood the watch you are thinking of purchasing is not actually a genuine item, but rather a replica of it instead.

Tip 3: When you are buying discount luxury watches, look for those that are made either from steel or titanium as these are more durable and much stronger. Also if possible, try to avoid purchasing a watch that is fitted with a leather or rubber strap. One with a metal band is usually better. The problem with rubber and leather is that they look great, but over time the material tends to deteriorate and eventually will need replacing.

Tip 4: Another of our practical buyer's guide tips to discount luxury watches that we offer relates to the maker of the watch. The more you know about the manufacturer of a particular watch, the more you will be able to determine if this is a product you can trust. Finding out the history of such companies is much easier nowadays since the existence of the internet. However, do not limit yourself to visit just their websites. Also check forums or any review sites that discuss the products they make in further detail.

Men's and Women's Luxury Watches

Are you looking for a luxury watch? Are you buying watches for yourself or for someone dear? If this is you, then you have to look at the Men's and Women's Luxury Watches buying guide below. Reading further will help you find the best watches for yourself or for the man in your life.

Men usually do not worry too much about style and elegance; men usually buy things including watches easily as women do. While this is a convenient way to buy watches, choice of luxury or designer watch is important for many reasons. Thus, this Men's and Women's Luxury Watches buying guide is going to be helpful for you.

Things to consider before you buy Men's and Women's Luxury Watches

o Luxury watches are expensive; you have to know before going to the shop or website what is the cost you are comfortable to pay for your luxury watch. There are different brands and model for Men's and Women's Watches and you have to know which ones fit the wearer and the budget you have for it. Thus, the first step is to research online. Look for as many luxury watch options as possible. Check their prices and their specifications compare them and find the watch that fits the end user well.

o What is the occasion that you or the end user is going to use the luxury watch for? Is he an executive who needs to show this elegant taste in the boardroom or is he a simple man who just wants to know the time when he needs to? Know his style and from there, you can decide which luxury watch appeal to him and if you are buying for yourself, consider the occasion and decide from there. Likewise, if you or your man needs other functionality other than to tell the time, you have to consider this as well when buying luxury watches.

o Are you looking for matching watch for you and your partner? While you can always find unisex watches, luxury watches usually have specific designs for men and women. Likewise, a matching men and women watch may be available; you just have to look for it.

After you have decided on the brand name and specification of Men's and Women's Luxury Watches, the next thing to consider is where you are buying the luxury watch.

As mentioned above, luxury watches are as you know it is usually expensive and some may be beyond your league. However, if the price is not an issue, you can always go for the most expensive and elegant Men's and Women's Watches.

Just the same, both economic buyer and moneyed buyer need to find reputable luxury watch distributors to avoid buying imitations. Imitations are aplenty both online and off-line. Thus, you have to look for a legitimate distributor before you buy. Do not buy Men's or Women's luxury watches too cheap because the possibility of fraud is always present. If the deal is too good to be true, then surely it is.

You might want to check with the manufacturer's website for authorized distributors before you part with your money. Even if the vendor is not one of the listed authorized distributors, you may still check on them for feedbacks to ensure that they are reputable. Only buy Men's and Women's luxury watches from reputable vendors to avoid buying fake products.

More and More, Luxury Watch Blogs Are Cropping Up Daily

There has been, in recent years, a greater interest in luxury timepieces. These timepieces are not just functional and helpful in the telling of time; they are also stylish, assertive and professional. At the same time, online blogs have become more popular as well. Online blogs detail the experiences and thoughts of an individual or organization in a public forum for all interested parties to read. Daily, luxury wrist watches blogs are being created. What is causing this influx of popularity and interest in this industry? Well, more than likely it is tied directly to the interest more individuals have in the field - more people are demanding luxury timepieces. While once considered to be exclusive and elitist, luxury wristwatch manufacturers are beginning to widen their intended audience to extend beyond the wealthy.

These days, they are also looking to include middle class individuals among their clientele. This would open up a whole new area for such manufacturers, and so far the campaigns are working successfully. Not only are more middle class individuals interested in purchasing wristwatches, they are also interest in learning more about them. Watch blogs answer a number of key questions that novice luxury watch purchasers may have. Which brands are the best? What are the differences between luxury watches? How much do watches cost? Where can a person buy watches? Perhaps due to the fact that middle class individuals in general have less money to throw around, they are likely going to investigate potential purchases thoroughly and they would need information before completing a successful sales transaction. Luxury watch blogs are an invaluable asset before, during and after the time of purchase.

Due to the increased demand for these informative sites, Internet browsers have likely noticed how they are cropping up on a daily basis. Despite the fact that there are so many of these sites, it is also important to read and comment on a luxury blog site which is knowledgeable. For many people, it can be difficult to determine the experience or expertise of individuals running or managing a luxury wristwatch blog, especially if it is new. One key way to determine the status of a blog is to look at all the comments left by users. Do they seem impressed with the work and information being presented?

Are the facts being constantly questioned by readers or visitors? Also, readers are going to want to make sure that the blog will cover topics and areas important to them. For example, if a reader is concerned about the authenticity of a timepiece, they may want to try to find a luxury watch blog that deals in a direct way with this concern. Searching a new blog may not be the best option for this because the advice posted so far may be limited on such a topic and there may not be much criteria established by the blog to answer and educate about such matters. Just as choosing a luxury watch is a process, finding the best watch blogs is as well.

The Watchery has a luxury watch blog that gets updated daily and can be viewed at Watch blog The Watchery is the most discounted luxury watch store online.

What To Look For in a Great Watch

What's the first thing that you need to consider when shopping for a new watch? Is it form, function, price or style? Actually, the very first factor you should look at is when and where you will wear it. How do you want your timepiece to work for you? Answering the question of purpose will help to guide you in the right direction. So, whether you are thinking about a stylish Gucci watch or a functional TAG Heuer...don't get too carried away before you consider your options. Let's look at the different types of watches available:

Luxury

A luxury timepiece is one that is not only made well, but should be stylish and stay that way for many years. A luxury piece might come from Omega or Cartier, but don't think that you have to break the bank on a luxury model. Plenty of manufacturers produce luxury collections at quite reasonable prices.

Casual

The casual watch combines class and comfort. These models are usually made with a higher water resistance, because the wearer often times will use this timepiece as their everyday model. These will generally not be too trendy or flashy, but rather exude an understated charm.

Dressy

A dress timepiece will be one that you will probably only break out on special occasions. Dress watches are for black tie affairs and will go great with a fine suit or an evening gown. These collections can come with a leather strap, but for the most part a dress wristwatch will feature a metal bracelet.

Fashion

Fashion watches will have avant-garde styling. They may feature a different or unique shaped dial or an interesting bracelet design. Fashion timepieces might have a more futuristic appearance.

Sport

Sport watches look great and are highly functional. A fun sport model will have many features and complications. Most of these models will be more water resistant, some even to incredible depths of 600 feet or more.

Once you decide on style consider the fit and comfort factor. Leather straps can be adjusted to fit properly, but if you choose a watch with a metal bracelet, you may need to have a few links removed. This can be done by you or any jeweler.

The style and type of timepiece are the next factors you need to tackle in your decision...after that you just need to find your perfect watch at the right price. Shop on-line with a reputable dealer.

Maurice Lacroix is a brand of luxury watches that are hand crafted and Swiss made. Watches with a Maurice Lacroix label have a high level of prestige and exclusivity that make the brand stand out from its competitors on both a national and international mechanical watch market.

Officially starting in small workshops in Switzerland in 1975, the Maurice Lacroix brand has now expanded to include sales in over 45 countries. Although the company prides itself on using time-tested, Swiss watchmaking techniques, modern technologies and updated methods of testing are constantly being applied to the production of watches. The Swiss made watches are only sold at specifically selected retail locations and cannot be bought online. This exclusivity adds to the allure of the luxury watches, as their quality is too high for the majority of watch retailers.

The precision and detail that is put into each timepiece shows the level of knowledge and passion that a Maurice Lacroix watchmaker captures. Each mechanical watch is made in the company's independent manufacturing workshops, a rare quality of designer watches today. Over the years, the company has occasionally shifted its area of focus from, for example, perfecting the construction of a mechanical watch movement to mastering precise retrograde timepiece displays. There are seven collections of Swiss made watches from Maurice Lacroix: Calypso, Divina, Les Classiques, Masterpiece, Miros, Pontos and Selena. Some of the timepiece collections are specifically designed for women, while others focus on an innovative design introduced by the brand. Regardless of the watchmaker's design for each collection, the intricate details of each timepiece are apparent to the naked eye. The fine craftsmanship of each mechanical watch is one of the key points of differentiation for Maurice Lacroix.

The brand routinely seeks out ambassadors who sensibly relate to the luxury watches and can represent the collections with respect. The list of trusted, knowledgeable ambassadors include tennis star Roger Federer, celebrity chef Nick Stellino, and professional golfer Justin Rose. The celebrity ambassadors all have a personal connection to the brand, whether it is through a Swiss heritage or a passion for collecting watches. The ambassadors can proudly describe the art of watchmaking that is exhibited by Maurice Lacroix and promote the luxury watches with pride.
